The Lancaster University Homes website is the only place students can find university-approved housing in Lancaster. Find out how you can join the scheme.
The homes we advertise and the landlords we endorse are checked for quality and are actively promoted to students by both Lancaster University and the University of Cumbria. The scheme enjoys the backing of Lancaster City Council as the main student housing accreditation scheme.
We host Housing Fairs on both campuses to enable students to meet approved providers and we promote the scheme around campus, through university websites and social media and through personal contact with students.
We offer scheme members access to exclusive benefits. Scheme members are invited to take part in Student Housing Fairs, landlord forums, training and other events and may advertise their properties as university-approved.

How to join Lancaster University Homes

There are several ways to join the scheme. If you manage your own student properties you may join directly (see membership criteria below) or you may place your student portfolio with one of the agents listed below who offer 100% LUH-accredited properties.
SU Living (operated by Lancaster University Student Union), Escape Campus or Fat Properties.
Membership criteria
To join our scheme you will meet our Fit and Proper Person criteria and be committed to offering a quality service. You must accredit all properties you let to students in the area or which are associated with you or your website.
Before making an application, please check that your property meets the Lancaster University Homes Standard and ensure you have all the necessary certification in place. If a proportion of your portfolio currently falls short of our Standard, please get in touch with us to see if we can help. In some circumstances we can issue a schedule of works which must be completed within an agreed timescale to enable you to access the scheme.
The application process is conducted online by inputting your contact and property details and uploading relevant certificates. Prior to approval we visit every property to confirm it meets the Standard.
All new buildings, conversions and relevant alterations will require appropriate planning permission and buildings regulations completion certificates.
All members are recommended to belong to a relevant professional landlord association in order to meet the management standards required by the scheme.

Advertising your Property
Following approval an invoice will be raised through the website which invites you to pay the appropriate fee online.
Once paid, the advert is automatically listed and goes live on the website and you may enjoy all the benefits of the scheme.
